Clean Beauty Swaps

Many years ago, amongst beauty devotees, organic and natural beauty products were admired, but generally paired with hushed comments about their efficacy.  We’re happy to report that in 2018, this is far from the case.  Clean beauty brands have come leaps and bounds, and the product offerings are better than ever.  Here are our top clean beauty swaps, many of which easily outperform their chemically-laden counterparts.

Oil Cleanser: Fun fact – One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil ($42) was one of the OG clean beauty swaps we made.  It works so well and smells so delicious, you’ll never want to be without it either.

Deep Cleanser: Allies of Skin Fresh State Purifying Cleanser + Mask ($42) is jam-packed with kaolin clay and Cacao antioxidants, this formula will deep clean without stripping skin of moisture.

Acid Treatment: In all honesty, most natural chemical-exfoliators felt a bit underwhelming until we met Drunk Elephant T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial ($80).  This packs a serious punch with no irritation.

Zit-Zapper: Indie Lee Blemish Lotion ($26) will clear up even the nastiest and largest of pimples, yet magically doesn’t include any scary chemicals.

Eye Cream: While technically a mask, we like to leave the Tata Harper Boosted Contouring Eye Mask ($120) on overnight for some serious fine-line smoothing.

Sunscreen/Tinted Moisturizer: Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense ($36) is perfect to replace your standard tinted moisturizer when you want sun protection with sheer coverage.

Long-Wear Lipstick: ILIA Satin Cream Lipstick ($24) has a geniusly narrow tip to line your lips before full-application, and will stay on well throughout a meal.  Considering hints of lipstick are more than likely to be ingested while you eat, we can’t think of a more important clean product to have in our arsenal.

Blush: Many organic beauty products feel overly creamy (chemicals often help thin out a formula), but W3ll People Nudist Cream Stick ($24) provides a sheer wash of color that feels moisturizing, yet never greasy.
